I'm craving pastel colours - NO MORE RED!! It will not return at Valentines-We do alternative shades here.
We have done the family bit (doesn't take long to visit-as we are a small unit,we all live together!) So as the children crave someone their own age , my Hubie is off camping ! I'm desperate for sun and to get out in the garden . Bored of frosty images -need some colour!!
We are open tomorrow and have a wee sale . Then closed till 8th Jan.
I'm counting the days to go to Marrakesh.
When is Mothers day in 2011? My diary does not say!
The flower workshop, you all keep asking for will be in Spring .
So I'm leaving you with this years floral Spring offerings

Congrats- to Stuart for winning the blog giveaway ....Not much competion!! Im chuffed a man left a comment .The blogs seem to be ruled by us lady folk (well the ones i look at!)
I'm a bit slow today. We went to a friends birthday bash. What a Brill eve... Danced all night with poppy even though she didn't know half the Golden oldies (80`s and Pogues tribute band called `The Dead Rabbits`s)
So nice to she her confidently bopping away (with no alcohol, unlike most 15 year olds now) We stayed well beyond the witching hour ,unheard of for me these days. Random picture today -The boots I wore when I got married (not into heels) Victorian ice skating boots ,blades removed.
I'm of vintage shopping tomorrow ,if the weathers not too bad and I'm feeling more energetic??

great for toy prezzies....
Worth a visit to Oundle -for real toys (you would love your child to play with , not computer games!) Yes ,they do still exist!! Jitterbug toys is a lovely shop with a lovely owner . They give good retail service . A good reason for shopping away from main shopping centres and global stores . Check out the website-

Rich pickings
Someone asked me `Has the field been worth doing`
OH YES! With out a dout!! Hard work yes. Expensive initial set up costs but growing the flowers yourself is so much cheaper ,less millage for the flowers and me to travel to get them and you get to grow flowers you just don't get at the wholesalers (If they are they are so expensive ) Some flowers i wont grow for cutting next year but will place them in the garden for decoration -the Love -lies -bleeding is too big for a hand tied!
`What has worked the best?`
Cornflowers
Nigela
Salvia
Larkspur
Dahlias
Sweet peas
Tulips
Cerinthe , Cosmos, Dill.etc etc..
The beds were going to be created in Winter but down came the snow . We had short time in Spring to get the beds created ,dug over and planted.

Larkspur was sown in the Autumn and nibbled by the rabbits but still grew strong. The petals and great for confetti .
Sweet peas went on and on , no mildew! The path was too narrow to pick . The scent was amazing when squashed in amongst the plants picking .
Cornflowers were so tall- I have never seen such long stems!
I was touched the other day Bunny Guiness called and asked me what unusual flowers would I recommend for cutting in May as she is designing a garden for Chelsea . So yes , all in all it has been worth it. The weather was kind this year. Who knows what will grow well next year . Lots of seedlings have emerged ,lets hope they last the winter? Hardy Annuals are tougher than you think and such good value!
